Slightly corroded capsules. Levels: 3 to 4cms below base of corks
Tasting note: Hugel's first Pinot Gris SGN produced since the 1865, noted earlier. In 1989: bouquet of spicy peach skins, rose-cachou and crystallised violets; very sweet, rich, soft, rounded marvellously gentle. Five years later, labelled Tokay d'Alsace, Grands Nobles Sêlection Jean Hugel. Fairly stolid, concentrated and a bit foursquare, with good finish. Last noted, from my cellar, dining with the family, July 1994 **** M.B.
