With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with diamond hour markers in 1950 and its subsequent sale on August 5th of 1952.
To the best of our knowledge this watch has never before been offered in public.
Production of the reference 2429 began in 1948 and lasted until at least 1953.
In the late 1940's, few wristwatches featured a higher retail price than those cased in platinum and reference 2429 is no exception to this rule. The baroque design of the reference 2429 with elongated spider-leg shaped lugs, paired with the diamond hour markers, render this watch one of Patek Philippe's most exclusive post-war designs. As a matter of fact, including the present watch, not even 10 examples of this model cased in platinum have been offered at public auction in the last 30 years.
