The present 'Littler's' blue puzzle-jug is the only example of this form and type extant. For an overglazed enameled coffee-pot and cover, formerly from the Lady Charlotte Schreiber Collection, see the Victoria & Albert Collection, London, museum no. 414:1004/&A-1885. Also see Charles Luxmoore, English Saltglazed Earthenware, London, 1924, p. 52 and col. pl. 38 and the dust jacket illustration, for a discussion on this category of wares and an itemization of the known examples at the date of publication. The Luxmoore teapot and cover was subsequently offered as part of the Bernard and Judith Newman Collection, sold, Sotheby's, New York, 20 January 2005, lot 196 ($48,000).

For additional information on William Littler, please refer to the note on the preceding lot.
