SUPERB WINES FROM A DISCERNING COLLECTOR
The following lots 88-207, come from the cellar of a discerning enthusiast with a taste for wonderful, esoteric wines that speak clearly of their terroir. Yes, there are classic wines from Bordeaux and Burgundy, but if we look away from these areas of France, rarely seen treasures come into focus. The collector's taste for Italian wines is superb and leads us toward some of the most highly-prized wines of Piedmont and The Veneto. Amarone della Valpolicella is a wine that reaches its highest peaks in the hands of Romano Dal Forno and the late, great Giuseppe Quintarelli. You will see that these are the only producers the collector was interested and that his taste was for the greatest vintages, 1988, 1991 and 1996 among others. Champagne is well-represented; particularly the wines of the inimitable Champagne Jacques Selosse. We're delighted to be able to offer full cases of his beautiful Brut Rosé, along with rarer wines such as the solera-style 'Substance' and bottles from the extremely sought-after 'Lieux Dits' series. Add to these superb vintage champagnes from Krug and Salon, and prestige cuvées from Louis Roederer, Pol Roger, Piper Heidsieck and Veuve Clicquot and you have a collection of rare charm.
