The present group of paintings by Silvano Bozzolini are from the collection of Anna Catherine Blankart-Speich, Switzerland, who was an avid patron of the arts, curator and collector. All five paintings were acquired by her directly from the artist. Lots 817 and 818 in particular are inscribed 'A Beauregard', in reference to Blankard-Speich. Beauregard in Vevey, Switzerland was the family's main residence and where Blankart-Speich invited numerous artists and hosted gregarious parties. Her collection included works by Picasso, Sam Francis, Fritz Glarner, Georges Braque, Alberto Magnelli, Fritz Klee, Chillida and many more.
Bozzolini moved to Paris by the end of 1947 and was able to immerse himself in the artistic milieu, as artists returned to the French capital after the war. He worked with Victor Vasarely, Jean Arp, Sonya Delaunay and Emile Gilioli amongst others and took part in numerous group and solo exhibitions.
