ATTRIBUTED TO FRANÇOIS LINKE, PARIS, EARLY 20TH CENTURY
Inlaid overall with trellis-parquetry, the pull-out extension mechanism with hinged fold-over swivelling rectangular top, the reverse with a baize-lined playing surface and removable roulette board, the interior fitted with two baize-lined backgammon boards, with a removable roulette wheel with counters and two leather dice cups, and with a games box with sliding-lid, inset to the front and reverse with a relief-cast panel of putti studying, the angles adorned with flower-filled vases, on fluted tapering legs with stiff-leaf cast sabots

Lot Essay

This games table is almost certainly a variant of index number 1464 by François Linke. The distinctive extending mechanism also features on an exhibition quality table à jeux by Linke which sold Christie's, London, 19 March 2008, lot 200 (£180,500).
