TWO SMALL QUARTZ SNUFF BOTTLES
1800-1970
The first, 1800-1900, is a rock crystal bottle of flattened, ovoid form and finely carved with an allover design of overlapping petals. The second, 1955-1970, is a citrine bottle of flattened, rounded form with mask and ring handles on the shoulders. The bottle is well hollowed to highlight the pale yellow tone of the stone.
1¾ and 1 5/8 in. (4.4 and 4.2 cm.) high, hardstone stoppers (2)

Lot Essay

It is unusual to find a rock crystal bottle carved with this formalized lotus petal design. Compact and refined, this bottle is a true miniature.
