THREE OVERLAY GLASS SNUFF BOTTLES
1740-1860
The first, probably Imperial Glassworks, Beijing, 1750-1820, is of flattened, rounded form and carved through the grey-blue overlay to the semi-transparent white ground with a continuous scene of scholars seated at a large painting table accompanied by their attendants below a pine tree. The second, probably Beijing, 1780-1860, is of elongated, tapering ovoid form and carved through the green overlay to the bubble-suffused clear ground with a bird standing amongst lotus flowers. The third, probably Imperial Glassworks, Bejing, 1740-1820, is of flattened, rounded form and carved through the dark red overlay with a goldfish reserved on the white ground carved with an overall basket-weave design.
1 15/16 in., 2 9/16 in., 2 1/8 in. (4.9 cm., 6.5 cm., 5.5 cm.) high, one carnelian, and two jadeite stoppers (3)
