A RARE PALE GREENISH-GREY AND BROWN JADE FIGURE OF GUANYIN
MING DYNASTY, 16TH-17TH CENTURY
The bodhisattva Avalokitesvara is shown seated in a casual manner on pierced rockwork with left hand resting on the left knee below a bird perched on the rocks behind her left shoulder. She is wearing a necklace, loosely draped robes and a cowl that is draped over the hair which is pulled up and centered by a figure of Amitabha Buddha.
