TWO JADE OPENWORK DRAGON PLAQUES
MING/EARLY QING DYNASTY (14TH-17TH CENTURY)
One plaque is of uneven thickness and is well carved in openwork with a large chilong and a small dragon contesting a flaming pearl amidst scrolling tendrils, their bodies forming the perimeter of the plaque. The reverse is plain. The stone is opaque and of whitish color with some small brown areas. The other plaque is of oval outline and is well-carved in openwork on both sides with the curved body of a chilong shown amidst scrolling lingzhi. The semi-translucent stone is of pale greenish-white color.
