Three paintings with Krishna
India, Rajasthan, 18th/19th century
The first with Krishna and a gopi playing holi, accompanied by attendants bearing gold syringes filled with color, on a terrace with a spring garden at front and flowering trees in the background, a golden-red sky above; the second with Krishna playing holi with two women, one with the same green halo as he, accompanied by musicians and attendants, all on a terrace with flowering trees in the background and a reddish sky above; the third with Krishna and a gopi seated on a swing and flanked by musicians and other attendants, various birds including peacocks at the lotus-filled water's edge at front and also in the lush foliage behind, a gentle rain falling from pregnant clouds and a golden ribbon lightning above, an inscription at top and on verso
