A gilt bronze figure of Buddha Ashokattamshri
Tibet, 15th/16th century
Seated in dhyanasana upon a double-lotus base, clad in a diaphanous patchwork sanghati incised with a floral pattern, the folds piled below the ankles, the face with elongated eyes and gently arched brows centered by a raised urna, the hair in curls over the ushnisha and topped with a knop, the base sealed and incised with a gilt double-vajra, with an inscription on the back of the base

The inscription on the reverse of the back is in Tibetan, and translates to "Homage to Ashokattamshri." One of the Eight Medicine Buddhas, Ashokattamshri is pink in color and is usually depicted with his hands in the meditative dhyanamudra, as in the present example.
