CUBERO SEBASTIAN, Pedro (c. 1645-c. 1697). Breve relacion de la peregrinacion que ha hecho de la mayor parte del mundo. Madrid: Iuan Garcia Infançon, 1680. 4° (195 x 129mm). Typographic title border, woodcut arms at head of dedication to Carlos II, woodcut initials. (Title restored at lower corner with last three numerals in date and small section of border in pen-and-ink facsimile, small laminated repair on title verso, some headlines shaved, some catch-letters and words cropped away, some light browning and spotting.) Blue morocco by Brugalla, sides with gilt supralibros in blind panel, gilt spine-lettering, gilt turn-ins and edges. Provenance: Pere de Ribes-Vallgomera i de Boixadors, Marqués de Alferràs (title inscription; enobled by Philip V in 1702) -- purchased from José Porter, 25 February 1952, and bound 18 June 1952 (according to pencil note at rear; but dated '1946' by Brugalla).

For the first time in history much of the circumnavigation was undertaken overland, his first residence of interest being in Moscow and his ultimate one Mexico.
