FIRST EDITION IN SPANISH, published well over 100 years after its first publication in Latin (Louvain, 1516). The title-page lists the many government offices held by the translator, Jerónimo Antonio Medinilla y Porres. Of aristocratic descent, he was known for his skill at arms and horsemanship, as well as his knowledge of astronomy and the classics. He died c. 1650, having translated a number of works from Latin into Castilian. Palau XX, 300427.
