Seventh edition of El Buscon, a picaresque novel remarkable for its violence and its brilliant caricatures, first published in 1626. The 'petty thief' or 'rogue' of the title is the son of a thief and a witch, and nephew of the Segovia town hangman. The equally fierce Sueños first appeared in print in 1627 though written long before. Palau XIV, 243862 & 244042.
