ROJAS VILLANDRADNO, Agustín de (1572-1625). El viage entretenido. Lerida: Hieronymo Margarit y Luys Menescal, 1611. 12° (150 x 92mm). Arms of Lerida on title, woodcut initials. (Paper fibre a little weak from washing, title with small corner repairs, short tear to Ff7, corner repair to Ii, some residual stains and marks.) Maroon morocco by Brugalla, blind-panelled sides with gilt supralibros, gilt spine-lettering, turn-ins and edges. Provenance: José Porter, 1952.
HIGHLY RARE third edition of this celebrated picaresque novel, partly in verse, following the editions of 1603 and 1604. Based on his experiences as a strolling player from ca. 1600 to 1603, Rojas's novel is regarded as 'one of the most entertaining books in all Spanish literature' (OCSL). RARE.
