Third edition of this picaresque novel, first published in Medina del Campo, 1605. The name of Francisco López de Ubeda on the title-page conceals the identity of a Dominican monk, Andrés Pérez de Léon. Written by a natural gossip for a sensation-seeking public, his work may be thought of as the contemporary equivalent of Fifty Shades of Grey, appearing in English as The Spanish Jilt in 1707. Brunet Supp. II, 817; Palau VII, 142111.
