LAZARILLO DE TORMES -- Aventures et espiègleries de Lazarille de Tormes. Paris: Didot Jeune, 1801. 2 volumes, 8° (218 x 137mm). Engraved frontispiece and 39 plates by N. Ransonette in three states, half-titles. (Title in vol. I browned, most plate margins spotted, pencil annotation to front endpaper.) Later straight-grained red morocco by Ch. de Samblanx, with filleted and floral border, flat gilt spines with oval ornament, gilt turn-ins. Provenance: purchased in 1955.
Reproduces the text of G. Backer's edition (Brussels, 1698), whose translation adapted that of the abbot of Charnes (Paris, 1678).
