We are grateful to Andrew Grey for supplying the following information relatating to the present lot:

A) Dexter background black
Argent a chevron between three cocks close gules in chief three spearheads argent imbrued gules (Williams of Gwernyfed); impaling: Azure three goats passant or (Stansfield for Gray)
Crest: A cock close gules
Mantling: Gules and argent
Motto: Deus haec otia fecit
For John Williams of Boons near Edenbridge KEN, who married 30 Mar 1840 at St Giles Camberwell SRY Mary Stansfeld only daughter of Robert Alexander Gray of Camberwell and died 1886 aged 86; she died 1892
