A SELECTION OF RARE WINES IN LARGE FORMATS FROM THE CELLAR OF ONE OF EUROPE'S LEADING COLLECTORS
Commencing in 1998 the collector of the following lots 1 to 206 travelled and tasted extensively throughout Burgundy, Tuscany and Piedmont, and over the course of more than a decade assembled a collection of wines from many of each region's finest terroirs and leading growers. Our sale today offers the chance to purchase many of the "coup de coeur" wines of a truly passionate and deeply knowledgeable collector. He first tasted the vast majority of these wines from barrel, then re-tasted them from bottle, before choosing the greatest wines of each vintage only.
The selection includes the following:
An outstanding range of great white Burgundies from stellar growers, from 2001 to 2010 inclusive.
An extraordinary collection of large format bottles, many of which are unique.
Please note that virtually all the stock of Burgundy, Tuscany and Piedmont was acquired on release from reputable UK wine merchants and -until this sale- was stored under-bond at the perfect and optimal temperature, humidity and light conditions at Octavian Vaults in Corsham, United Kingdom".

Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes--Vintage 2007
Côte de Nuits. Domaine-bottled: Ponsot
Tasting note: Bacon fat, game, dark berries and decadent suggestions of faded lily and musky, nose-wrinkling narcissus scent the Ponsot 2007 Clos de La Roche Cuvée Vieilles Vignes. Reconvening on a finely-tannic, expansive palate, the game and smoked meat elements take precedence at least for now over the wines black fruits. But much of the sense of clarity and buoyancy as well as primary juiciness that rendered the corresponding Clos St.-Denis so thrilling return in the finish here, too, along with a persistently deep alliance of carnal and stony mineral elements. I would expect this to perform profoundly over the next two decades. Wine Advocate #189. June 2010

Offered in bond, but available duty paid. To remove the lot from bond excise duty at current rates and clearance VAT on the hammer price will be added.
