Château d'Yquem--Vintage 1962
Sauternes, 1er grand cru classé
In original wooden case
Tasting note: Three notes within 9 months. In Sept 2002: rich old gold; 'calve's foot jelly'; rich, crème brul©e. A month later, in magnum: warm amber; honey and apricot on nose and palate, rich of course. Most recently, at Yquem, recorked: medium-amber, 'paler than expected', open lime rim; very fragrant orange blossom, melon, caramel; medium-sweet delicious flavour - like thick-cut marmalade, some softness yet dry finish. Very much as programmed. Last tasted June 2003 **** Crisp and lovely now. Will keep. M.B.
