A BRONZE HARNESS FITTING
WESTERN ZHOU DYNASTY (CIRCA 1100-771 BC)
The hollow rectangular fitting is of trapezoidal cross-section with apertures at both ends and a rectangular loop at the end for attachment. The top is cast with a large recumbent bovine with head raised and legs tucked under its body. The bronze surface has a greenish-grey patina.
