A CLOISONNE ENAMEL BLACK-GROUND TRIPOD CENSER

The compressed body and legs of the censer are decorated with scattered flowers in delicate colors surrounded by gilt-copper tendrils and reserved on a black ground below a band of ruyi heads on the shoulder. The domed cover is cast in openwork with lotus scroll that surrounds three large ruyi-head panels enclosing bats below the openwork gilt-metal knob, and the everted rim is shaped to accomodate the pair of upright handles that rise from the rim of the censer.
