A CARVED GREENISH-WHITE AND RUSSET JADE BOULDER
19TH/EARLY 20TH CENTURY
The triangular boulder is carved and pierced on one side to depict a craggy rock face and nine quail either in flight, seated or emerging from rocky niches, with stalks of millet growing amidst the rocky outcroppings. The stone is of greenish-white tone, with the russet brown skin visible on the extremities of the carving.
7¼ in. (18.4 cm.) long
