A QINGBAI CARVED MEIPING
YUAN DYNASTY (1279-1368)
The tall, high-shouldered, tapering body is carved with a band of wind-tossed waves between line borders beneath a band of peony scroll and above a band of petal lappets. The vase is covered overall with a semi-translucent glaze of pale bluish-green tone that continues over the rim and ends just above the foot.

Compare a Yuan dynasty Qingbai meiping of similar size (26.3 cm. high) but with carved dragon and wave design below the peony scroll and above a band of petal lappets, illustrated in In Persuit of the Dragon: Taditions and Transitions in Ming Ceramics, Seattle, 1988, p.63.
