A RARE CELADON-GLAZED LOTUS LEAF-FORM PALETTE
QIANLONG FOUR-CHARACTER SEAL MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE AND OF THE PERIOD (1736-1795)
The palette is modeled in the form of a shallow, half-open lotus leaf. The unopened center curves to one side and is borne on a stem that curls upwards and bears smaller leaves and a flower that lays along one corner of the lotus leaf. The palette is covered overall with a soft, pale bluish-green glaze that pools in the finely incised veins of the leaf. The details of the stem and flower are delicately picked out in gilding. Three spur marks on the underside surround the nianhao inscribed in the center.
