A RARE POLYCHROME-DECORATED DISH
MING DYNASTY, 16TH CENTURY
The dish has rounded sides and is decorated in iron red, and green and yellow glaze in the center with a scene of a woman greeting an official on horseback in a landscape with mountains in the distance below a band of chrysanthemum scroll in the well. A band of peony scroll encircles the exterior. A four-character mark, Chen Wenxian zao (made by Chen Wenxian), is written in iron red within a double circle on the base.
