8o (177 x 115 mm). Mainly italic types with a few passages in Roman and Greek. Rouillé's eagle and serpent device on title, borders depicting a boat; to the sides are mariners unfurling sails. Excepting the privilege and table, 128 emblems enclosed within a four-part ornamental woodcut border. Device on title with some red ink highlighting; A1r and A2v with similar illuminations in red. Brown morocco, covers with gilt- and blind-tooled panels, spine gilt in six compartments, edges gilt by Hardy. Provenance: Jean and François Meinart ("Iehan Francoys Meinart Freres," dated 1553 in gilt on A1r); Edouard Rahir (discolored patch from removal of bookplate); Otto Schaefer (sale, Sotheby's, New York, 1 November 1995, lot 4).
