2o (312 x 205 mm). Title printed in red and black, 187 woodcut illustrations (some full page) and numerous woodcut initials. (Some light dampstaining along inner margin, o1, ee3 each with tear affecting text.) 16th-century blind-tooled pigskin over pasteboards (recased). Provenance: early trade inscription below colophon; acquired from Marlborough Rare Books, 1964.
FIRST EDITION IN GERMAN. The woodcut illustrations are attributed to Peter Flötner, Virgil Solis, Georg Pencz, Hans Brosamer and Erhard Schön, with initials by Hans Springinklee. They are based on the 1521 Como edition (see lot 23). Adams V-913; Berlin Kat. 1810; Fowler 404; Millard Northern 133.
