Lot Essay

Richard Parker (fl.1769-d.1799) is known to have produced medallions for Josiah Wedgwood. A number of sets of library busts are also known (Ashburnham Place and Brynkinalt, Denbigh), many modelled after known examples by Rysbrack and Roubiliac. (Rupert Gunnis Dictionary of British Sculptors 1660-1851 and Timothy Clifford The Plaster Shops of the Rococo and Neo-Classical Era in Britain, Journal of the History of Collections 4 no.1 (1992), pp.39-65.
