Cylindrical, the body with a detachable silver sleeve, cast and chased with scenes from story of Joseph, the eleventh of Jacob's children, on one side Joseph is depicted being cast into the well by his brothers with his coat lying to one side, the other side depicts Joseph being sold to the Ishmaelites by his brother Judah, in the distance a camel and in the foreground a goat whose blood was used to make Jacob believe that Joseph had been killed, the hinged cover with a band of foliage scrolls, centering inset with a medallion depicting John III Sobieski, King of Poland on one side and the defeat of the Turks in the battle of Chocim on the other, by Johann Höhn, the slightly spreading foot with a band of foliage, the scroll handle with an auricular thumbpiece, marked on cover and foot the medal signed with initials 'I.H'
