Lot Essay

The present lot is an exceptional and poignant example from Louay Kayyali's depictions of the realities seen in the streets of his homeland. The feminine figure appears fatigued and helpless as if worn out from an arduous chore. By portraying her lying on the ground, Kayyali not only evokes the difficulties of life, but also alludes to a sense of calmness and contentment therefore revealing the everlasting contradictions observed within the contemporary society.
