Lot Essay

This magnificent 'Vase' design Mohtasham rug is in superb condition. The rug has an unusual asymmetric, directional field design which would have required a specially designed cartoon for the entire field, rather than a quarter or half cartoon that can then be used by the weaver as a mirror image for the other sections of the design.
