WEST PERSIA, CIRCA 1890

A silk Fereghan rug of similar field and border design and identical colouring, can be found in the Iwan Maktabi Collection, Beirut, and was exhibited in Fleurs et Soie, The Silk Museum, Bsous, Lebanon, November 2011, (Hali, Issue 168, Summer 2011, p.119). The present lot is a more sophisticated rendering, with a series of perfectly woven concentric circles forming the endless repeat of the field design.
