Lot Essay

Emile Edmond Peynot's Marchand tunisien was initially exhibited at the Paris Salon of 1883, and quickly became a must-have for all major Orientalist collections of the time. Another example of this model sold Christie's, New York, 19 April 2006, lot 30 ($31,200).
