Lot Essay

Paul Comolera, French (1818-1897), was renowned for his work as an expert animalier sculptor, modeling naturalistic, life-sized animals and, more specifically, birds. His studio has been likened to a menagerie of birds, fish and reptiles from which he drew inspiration.
