Lot Essay

In 1945 the Volkshogeschool Bergen was founded as a social and cultural meeting place for all walks of life, where people could attend workshops in the arts, such as photography, dance and theatre. Many students would afterwards leave a tip for the good time they had had during the workshops. With these tips, the direction of the Volkshogeschool was able to purchase art works from unknown artists who lived in Bergen, such as Lucebert, Constant and Corneille.
