The heavy gold ring with flattened bezel, the centre with white enamelled skull on black enamel ground, the border with black enamel line decoration and enclosing the legend memento mori with twin star spacers, to raised and engraved scroll shoulders with traces of some white enamel detail, the reverse with indistinct goldsmiths privy mark, circa 1600, finger size H
