Comprising 39 photographs, each showing an important feat of the civil engineering of the Hijaz railway, with Turkish riq'a description below, laid down on white card, in red morocco binding with gilt stamped borders and central tughra and arms of Sultan 'Abdul hamid II (r.1876-1909), the back cover with a gold crescent and star, occasional brown spot staining mostly in the margins
Each photograph 3 7/8 x 5½in. (10 x 14cm.); folio 4 7/8 x 8in. (12.5 x 20cm.)

The captions below the photographs are in Ottoman Turkish and give dimensions and materials of the constructions as well as the distance along the line. The photographs include the column in the square by the station in Haifa, the docks by the Haifa station, a view of the waterfalls in the Yarmouk valley in the Tel Shihab region, the construction of bridges along the Haifa branch and the entrance to a 160-metre long tunnel in the Yarmouk valley
