Grisaille brush drawing on paper, the mendicant or dervish holds his begging bowl as he curls around the trunk of a tree with birds flying overhead, a later added inscription attributing the work to Reza 'Abbasi, laid down on wide polychrome margins, minor losses to the folio on the right-hand margin

Inscription: The signature probably added reads, dar qazvin tarh-e in shodeh bud va dar sefahan ba'd az si sal dar ruz-e chaharshanbeh hashtom (?)-e shahr-e shavval .. iqbal sana [10]41 be-rang shod raqam-e kamineh reza 'abbasi, 'This was designed in Qazvin and was coloured 30 years later in Isafahan on Wednesday 8th (?) of the month of Shawwal ... fortune, year [10]41.
