Lot Essay

Hadrian (AD 117-138) was a man of culture and the arts, enshrined in building projects such as his Villa at Tivoli and the enrichment of the Pantheon. He concentrated all efforts in strengthening his administration rather than conducting further military campaigns, the building of 'Hadrian's Wall' between Newcastle and Carlisle being such an example.
