SHIRAZ, IRAN, LATE 15TH/EARLY 16TH CENTURY
Opaque pigments and gold on paper, the angel seated on a blue carpet and depicted frontally, wearing a crown and a yellow robe, his wings spreading to either side, the illustration laid down on a Timurid or early Safavid manuscript page with text in nasta'liq script arranged in four columns, the text identified as Qazwini's 'Aja'ib al-Makhluqat, the margins a Qajar restoration, the mounts with owner's notes, slightly rubbed, otherwise in good condition
