Each cover with a central rectangular panel with nightingales in a rose bush (gul-o bulbul) on black ground, bordered with floral medallions arranged between borders with floral scrolls and dotted motifs, the doublures with calligraphic medallions in naskh script with the Throne Verse (Qur'an II, sura al-baqara), v.255), on red ground, the two covers loose; the larger cover decorated with a floral bouquet on lightly gold-speckled brown ground, bordered with floral scrolls, the doublure with gilt floral meander overall, small areas of restoration and repainting
Each cover 11½ x 7 1/8in. (29.2 x 18.3cm.); 14 1/8 x 9 1/8in. (35.8 x 23.1cm.) (2)
