Comprising Muhy al-Din Abu Zakariya Yahya bin Sharaf bin Hassan bin Husayn bin Muhammad al-Nawawi's Kitab al-arba'in fi mabani al-islam wa qawa'id al-ahkam, a treatise on hadith and al-Busiri's Al-Burda fi madh al-nabi, Arabic manuscript on paper, 36ff. plus one fly-leaf, each folio with 11ll. of black naskh script, titles in large gold thuluth script outlined in black, some words picked out in red, opening folio with title within a black-outlined gold cartouche, with later added owner's notes, with added dates of AH 730, AH 811 and AH 991, in damaged Mamluk brown morocco binding

Lot Essay

Ownership inscriptions on the first folio gives the name of Ahmad bin Sidq al-Humsi (from Homs) al-Shafi'i, of Muhammad Sadr (?) al-Din bin al-Hajj in Aleppo and the name of Shihab al-Din known as Ibn [..] al-Dallal (middleman) in the souk of [..].
