SIGNED HAFIZ 'UTHMAN, OTTOMAN TURKEY, DATED AH 1099/1687-88 AD
Black ink on copper-speckled paper, the Arabic text from the Hadithi of the Prophet Muhammad, a line of large thuluth script at top and a panel of two lines of smaller naskh script below, divided by a black-ruled gold line, two gold and polychrome illuminated cartouches to either lower corners, with gold and red floral sprays in places, signed katabahu 'uthman al-hafiz bi al-qur'an in the lower left hand side corner, the signature in clouds on illuminated ground, laid down on fine marbled card with black-ruled orange and gold borders, mounted
