A KASHAN LUSTRE POTTERY BOWL
CENTRAL IRAN, LATE 12TH/EARLY 13TH CENTURY
Of conical form on short flaring foot, with flat rim, the lustre painted decoration with four griffins arranged in the central medallion, on a ground of incised scrolls, the cavetto with bands of stylized palmettes and an inscription in loose naskh script incised over the lustre ground, the rim with repeated incised whirls, the exterior decorated with a lattice of stylized foliage, repaired breaks and areas of restoration
