UZBEKISTAN, 18TH/19TH CENTURY
Of conical form on plain base, with slightly sloping rim, the manganese, cobalt-blue, green and black decoration arranged around a central radiating rosette, the cavetto with arched medallions, each with roundels of cross-hatched design within lattice of dotted roundels, the rim decorated with chevrons, chips and flakes, otherwise intact, old reference number to the base
20 1/8in. (51cm.) diam.

Lot Essay

This very large dish (51cm. diameter), as well as lot 780 in this sale, is probably from 18th century Bukhara, Uzbekistan. Stuart Cary Welch had acquired a Bukhara dish, originally from the Collection of Kirkor Minassian which sold at Sotheby's, London, The Stuart Cary Welch Collection - Part I, 6 April 2011, lot 64.
