A ROMAN BRONZE FORTUNA
CIRCA 2ND CENTURY A.D.
Solid cast, the goddess depicted standing, with weight on right leg, the left slighty bent, wearing a himation layered over a short-sleeved chiton, her wavy centrally-parted hair pulled back into a chignon at the nape of her neck, surmounted by a tall modius with criss-cross decoration, supporting a slender filled cornucopia in her left arm, right arm held down by her side to hold a ship's rudder (now missing), a twisted gold hoop with a single green glass bead around her neck, on a raised circular stand, mounted on a later tall columnar stand
