Sir John Leslie, 1st Baronet of Glaslough, commissioned the building of Castle Leslie, with construction starting in 1870. While the building was in progress, the Baronet and his wife, Constance, embarked on a European Grand Tour, collecting antiquities and furnishings for their new home.
