A BYZANTINE BRONZE LAMP WITH GRIFFIN HANDLE
CIRCA 4TH-5TH CENTURY A.D.
With two projecting spouts with an attachment loop on both, and one centrally placed cylindrical fill-hole with a hinged lid and thumb rest, the curving handle in the form of a griffin's head crested with five arrowhead-shaped spikes, with another on top of his head facing frontally and pierced twice for suspension chains
